New Smyrna Beach - Volusia, FL

April 7, 2026

Good day everyone! The weather has been fluctuating lately, the Wind and Rain changing daily makes it difficult to know the best time to go out. But, the fishing has been consistent when we do get out the trout bite is really good and most of them are just undersized for every 10 undersized you'll catch one keeper. Everyone is waiting on the bait to change to catch the big ones. there are some Reds around but they are few and far between. Jack's are starting to show up; they put up a good fight. Don't forget as of April 1st you can't keep trout over 19 in. Good fishing everyone.

New Smyrna Beach - Volusia, FL River Report on 9th Jul, 2025

New Smyrna Beach - Volusia, FL

July 9, 2025

The bite is strong this July in New Smyrna Beach, with a variety of inshore and nearshore species keeping anglers busy. In the backwaters and flats of Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River, Redfish and Speckled Trout are the top targets. Early mornings are producing the best results using live shrimp, soft plastics, or topwater lures over grassy areas. Redfish are cruising shallow, making for great sight-casting opportunities, especially on a calm day. Tarpon are starting to show up in better numbers along the beaches and in the inlets. These silver kings are chasing bait pods, so look for diving birds and rolling fish to locate the action. Live mullet or threadfin herring are the baits of choice. If you're after big fights and unforgettable runs, this is your chance. Just be sure your tackle is ready—these fish don’t mess around. Nearshore reefs are holding good numbers of Mangrove Snapper, Cobia, and the occasional King Mackerel. Anchoring up with cut bait or slow trolling with live bait has been effective. Sharks are also hanging around, so prepare for a surprise visitor every now and then. With warm water and active bait schools, the opportunities are wide open for anglers of all skill levels this month.

Indian River North - Volusia, FL River Report on 13th Jul, 2023

Indian River North - Volusia, FL

July 13, 2023

We went out early to avoid as much heat as possible. We watch the sun come up and the bait shower across the water in front of us. No sooner did the sunlight hit the water and the first trout hit the deck! We reeled in some small ones and a couple of slot sized ones and decided to move a little. I don’t know if the dolphins were leading or following but everywhere we found good fish they seemed to find us! We were almost ready to come in when Josh got a runaway hit and a 27” Snook exploded out of the water and it was a sight to see! That Snook put up a good fight but it ended way too soon. It was a good way to end the day!
